After Therapy

Listening Ear’s support doesn’t stop at counselling. Once your group or one-to-one sessions have finished, adult clients can benefit from our Friendship After Bereavement (FAB) or Gardening for Wellbeing groups and children and young people can join our Emotional Youth Club (EYC).

FAB offers a safe and confidential place for ongoing support after you have completed counselling for bereavement. Led by an experienced group facilitator, meetings explore issues such as the physical and emotional effects on a loved one, the impact on wider family systems and the impact on your identity (particularly for carers).

You will never be forced to speak within the group if you don’t feel comfortable with this, but we think that you will be surprised how the group process can help you to heal. Tissues are provided, but you can expect some laughter, too! Fabbers meet for lunch, organise trips and generally start to enjoy life again.

FAB groups have previously met in Halewood and Whiston.

Our allotment at Halsnead School is a focus for people to become involved in gardening to promote their wellbeing.

Whether you’re a novice or an old hand, you’ll have the opportunity to meet others who share your interest and who are on their own journey to wellbeing.

2019 saw the launch of Listening Ear’s Emotional Youth Club, our new venture to provide on-going support to children and young people when their counselling sessions have finished.

Sessions are open to youngsters who have completed therapy with Listening Ear, but who feel they need a little extra support and want to keep in touch with others.

Taking place once a month, the EYC is a chance to get together with other young people in a fun environment, while at the same time refreshing some of the skills, tips and tools to maintain emotional wellbeing. Past sessions include Photography Workshops, Outdoor Therapy and Gardening, Cycling, Slime Making and VR Gaming. The group also meets once a month via Zoom, for virtual activities.

  • "After the death of my partner, I attended one to one counselling at Listening Ear for six sessions. It helped me cope a lot and I made friends within the FAB Group. The service you provide is excellent and invaluable - thank you again."
