Halloween saw Listening Ear’s Emotional Youth Club hosting two special Halloween Parties for the children and young people who attend the sessions.  Thanks to help from staff and volunteers, ably assisted by Kim and James Apter from the James Apter Friendship Fund, our meeting room at 174 Dragon Lane was spooked-up to give it a Halloween theme.  Activities in the evening included the age-old game of apple bobbing as well as mask decoration and ‘Pin the Fangs on the Vampire’.

Kim and James also brought along a fantastic selection of gifts for the children.  Their Friendship Fund was set up in 2012 in memory of their son, James, who died in 2011.  EYC organiser Julie Wright said she was overwhelmed by the Fund’s generosity, and thanked the couple for making the children’s night.

The EYC is aimed at children and young people who have completed their sessions with our Titanium, DiAmond or Butterflies services, and offers a once a month chance for youngsters to maintain their wellbeing, as well as maintain friendships with people they’ve met whilst at Listening Ear.

174 was transformed for a night

It began in September with funding from the National Lottery’s Community Fund, and will continue through into 2020 with a busy programme of activities and therapy sessions.
