When Sue Heaps lost her husband to suicide, it was the start of what she describes as ‘a horrendous path’.  Thankfully, Sue was referred for help to Amparo, Listening Ear’s support after suicide service.  The support of one of Amparo’s dedicated suicide liaison workers has helped Sue in coming to terms with her loss – “I can’t thank her enough for being there from the beginning,” she says.

Now Sue, who is a keen walker, has registered to ‘Walk The Bay’ –  a guided walk across Morecambe Bay – on Saturday 22nd May 2021, and is raising money to donate to Amparo.  As she says on her Just Giving page, “I owe so much to my amazing support worker.  I knew she was there for me at anytime I needed her and we are still in regular contact as I try to adjust to my new life. As a way of helping this amazing charity and repaying the help given to me, I am doing this walk.”

If you would like to support Sue by sponsoring her walk, you can donate here.  Every penny raised will go towards developing the Amparo service, to help those who have been affected by suicide.
