Applications Open for CYP Bridging Course in Warwickshire
We are inviting qualified adult counsellors to apply for a specialist Children & Young People (CYP) Bridging Course as part of the continued development of our Warwickshire Domestic Abuse Counselling Service (DiAmond).
This intensive three-day programme has been designed for qualified therapists wishing to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required to work therapeutically with children and young people.
Delivered by experienced psychotherapist, trainer and clinical supervisor Steve Leach, the course combines developmental theory with practical, case-based learning, giving participants the skills needed to work safely and effectively with young people and their families.
Course Dates
The programme runs over three full days, with attendance required on all dates:
- Thursday 20 August 2026
- Friday 21 August 2026
- Thursday 27 August 2026
Training takes place from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day at Hatters Space, Nuneaton.
What You’ll Learn
The course covers key areas including:
- Child development and developmental stages
- The impact of trauma and environment
- Learning theory and behavioural interventions
- Attachment theory and emotional regulation
- Building therapeutic relationships with children and young people
- Practical assessment and intervention techniques
Participants will receive a CPD Certificate on successful completion.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Hold a Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above) based on adult counselling practice.
- Be able to commit to all three training days.
- Have access to their own transport.
- Be able to travel throughout Warwickshire to complete a 100-hour placement, including a minimum of two full school days each week.
Recruitment and Eligibility
As this programme supports the development of practitioners working with children and young people, applicants will be required to complete our pre-qualification process before a place can be confirmed.
This includes:
- A pre-qualification interview.
- Two satisfactory references.
- An Enhanced DBS check.
- Confirmation from your external clinical supervisor supporting your application.
Successful applicants will join a programme designed not only to develop specialist CYP counselling skills but also to help strengthen therapeutic support available to children and young people across Warwickshire.
